Our Love Story

How did you two meet?

We met in Dallas through friends (and with a little help from the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel). It was the only blind date I’ve ever been on and we decided to meet at the Black Friar Pub. Chris had one of his best friends with him, Mike, and I had one of my best friends, Lizzie, with me. We had the best time and it was my best friend Lizzie who told me I needed to go on a second date with Chris.

So, a week later we went to dinner at Hattie’s and from then on we were together all the time! Just two years from there he proposed and we’ve been with each other for over four years now and it only keeps getting better and better! More on how he proposed below and yes it involves one of our favorite (and most romantic) restaurants and hotels in Dallas!

Our Engagement Story

After almost two years of dating we started talking about marriage and our future together and little did I know Chris was already planning on how he would propose. He’s really into surprises and likes to go big! Also, knowing me I’m always looking for a reason to celebrate and pop some champagne… birthdays, anniversaries, you name it!

With Chris’s 29th birthday coming up he asked me to plan his celebration. I asked him if he wanted to do a bigger celebration with friends, dinner with family or just the two of us. Since the year before I threw him a big birthday party at The Rustic with friends he said just the two of us going to a celebratory dinner would be nice.

We decided on Fearings (legendary Dallas restaurant) and he asked me to make the reservations. Again, little did I know he had already coordinated with Fearings and the gracious hotel staff at The Ritz about his epic engagement plan.

Since it was his birthday I really didn’t think he would be proposing! It worked out even better since it was definitely a surprise and I had my hair and nails done and was all dressed up ready to celebrate. As we checked into Fearing’s the ladies at the hostess stand were extra nice wishing Chris a Happy Birthday. They sat us outside in their beautiful courtyard. We popped champagne and had a wonderful dining experience. Before dessert Chris asked if I wanted our waitress to take a picture of us to remember this wonderful birthday celebration before we got too full.

We walked over to the beautiful fountain and the next thing I knew he was down on one knee proposing to me. He even had a photographer there pretending to be dining and she jumped up from her chair and started capturing the moment mid Tortilla Soup bite! It was the BEST! We sat back down and Chef Dean Fearing even came out to congratulate us and gift us with more champagne and plate signed by the staff at Fearings.

But Chris wasn’t done with the fun surprises. He then told me that we would be staying the night at the Ritz and that his mom and aunt were at our home taking care of our dogs and packing us overnight bags. Before checking into our room (the Ritz even ended up upgrading us to a suite) we went to our favorite local wine bar – The Alcove – where our family and friends were waiting for us. Literally tearing up writing this as it was the sweetest surprise ever!

Wedding details

Ceremony & reception location: Villa Del Lago, Austin, Texas

Wedding theme & color palette: Texas Meets Tuscany | Sage green, white & gold

Dress: Martina Liana bought at De Ma Fille in Fort Worth, TX

Bridal Accessories: Nordstrom and Etsy

Decoration & flowers: Lots of gold with rustic touches and the prettiest floral arrangements from Flora Fetish! Loved that Carrie surprised me with lavender bouquets for my bridesmaids!

Favors & wedding cake: Chocolate chip cookies from Easy Tiger Bakery, koozies and a fantastic 4 tier wedding cake from Coco Paloma Desserts. It was hard to decide on flavors since they were all amazing. We went with carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and white wedding cake with Nutella buttercream interior and a vanilla bean frosting on the outside. My mouth is watering just remembering it! We’re excited for our mini 1 yr anniversary cakes in September (so sweet that they do this!)

What makes our wedding day unique? Our wedding was my dream wedding. My vision completely came to life through all of the planning, collaborating and working with the best wedding vendors out there!

What was our biggest splurge? Photographer & Videographer. Pictures last a lifetime and now we can watch our wedding video and relive it whenever we want!

Can you pick your favorite moment? All of them!? Walking down the aisle with my Dad (my hero), saying my vows to Chris, my sister’s MOH speech and Chris’s best man’s speech both were incredibly moving and heartfelt, our first dance to Chris Stapleton’s More of You, and celebrating with the people we love most in this world.

Honeymoon? Luxurious getaway to Cabo! We stayed at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort and the One & Only Palmilla – both fantastic! (Blog posts reviewing our honeymoon and our hotel stays coming soon!)
