Ludivine: The Ultimate Foodie Experience in Oklahoma City

This was the dining experience we were most looking forward to on our Oklahoma City Weekend Itinerary. Ludivine is located in Midtown, which also happens to be one of our favorite areas in OKC. Ludivine is known for it’s elevated food and drinks. Chef Russ Johnson embraces the practice of real, scratch cooking, based on classical techniques, with a menu that changes daily. We loved that it was minutes away from the Ambassador hotel where we stayed and also close to shops and more.

Dinner at Ludivine in Oklahoma City

Ludivine

This was the dining experience we were most looking forward to on our Oklahoma City Weekend Itinerary. Ludivine is located in Midtown, which also happens to be one of our favorite areas in OKC. Ludivine is known for it’s elevated food and drinks. Chef Russ Johnson embraces the practice of real, scratch cooking, based on classical techniques, with a menu that changes daily. We loved that it was minutes away from the Ambassador hotel where we stayed and also close to shops and more.

To start off our dining experience we were led through the restaurant to the cocktail lounge in the back. We liked that the vibe was a bit more lively than the relaxed, laid-back vibe of the dining room. We were greeted by the awesome bartender @chadillac_82 and it whipped up some tasty libations led by each of our flavor preferences. We were also treated to the loveliest of charcuterie and cheese plates featuring everything they had in-house that day: Country Pate, Rabbit Liver Mousse, House Cured Salmon, Pork Rillette, Berkshire Lardo, and a delicious selection of cheeses.

After our lovely start of beautifully crafted cocktails and that incredible charcuterie board we made our way into Ludivine’s dining room. In our opinion we were also given the best seats in the house – the comfortable bar stools looking directly into the kitchen. It always elevates the experience for us to see the kitchen in action! Also, Emily was watching closely and noticed culinary techniques she learned when receiving her Culinary Certificate at the Culinary Institute of America. She asked the chef where she went to culinary school and confirmed it was also the CIA – loved this!

Emily went with the prefix menu including wine pairings and Barbara orders off the the menu so we were able to share and try as many dishes as possible.

As you can see dinner not only looked good (gorgeous plating) it also tasted fantastic and was cooked to perfection with everything being perfectly balanced. We’re getting hungry just remembering this incredible meal. It truly was one of the best food experiences we’ve had while traveling and the entire team at Ludivine are incredibly nice and talented. We also found out the it’s a favorite among the locals with many coming in multiple times a week!

Ludivine has also won some impressive awards including:

  • Chef Russ has been named on the 2012 People’s Best New Chef list for Food & Wine magazine and Best Chef for Best Chefs America
  • The bar team of Chris Barrett and Colby Poulin have been recognized by many cocktail sites and magazines for their contributions to the craft
  • They’ve also been featured in Saveur (fave!) & Redbook

Ludivine is truly one of the crown jewels of the Oklahoma culinary community and we were delighted to experience their hospitality. As we said before, we’re truly impressed with Oklahoma City’s food scene and we highly recommend making reservations at Ludivine the next time you find yourself in OKC… we will be doing the same!
